Abilities (taken from aoc.wikia.com with edits): Melee hit - 1200-1300 crushing damage Piercing gaze - range 80yds, 90degree cone attack, stuns for 5seconds, and deal 150frost damage/sec. Knockback AoE - 360Degree - Short range, does no damage. Iceworm Lullaby - range 100, duration 5 seconds, 700-900 frost damage (unavoidable) Yakhmar's Slam - Aprox 1k damage in huge AoE around him. Kyllikki's Blizzard - 6sec duration, 600 - 850frost damage, 70% reduced movespeed, and 600 - 850 every 2 seconds. Targeted on a single person. Yakharmars adds - Spawns 6 adds, which hits for 1.3k crushing damage, and got Piercing Gaze just as Yakhmar him self.
Adds He spawns 6 adds around him (approximately every 25-30seconds), and if you are facing him they spawn on his RIGHT side (note: FACING HIM). 2 adds near the head, 2 near the middle, 2 near his tail. It is recommended to angle the tank LEFT toward the wall (again if you are facing him) and leave the rest of your raid staring at where his head USED to be.
-Any offtanks you may have are recommended to be placed accordingly where adds will spawn (Note*: They sometimes spawn underneath him as opposed to directly on his right side) so that the offtanks can pick up the adds before your main tank gets destroyed.
When the adds spawn, let the offtanks pick them up, and all MELEE dps should switch to take down the adds (preferably as close to Yakhmar as possible so that the casters hitting Yakhmar will also AE the adds). Remember to have the melee placed INFRONT of the casters/healers so that the adds (if it happens) must go through the waiting lines of tanks to get to the clothies. It is important these adds are taken care of or they will decimate your dpsers (or your main tank on Yakhmar)
Healers I recommend 3 healers in the group with your main tank, just for added support, ESPECIALLY if you are not Tier 1 geared, and at LEAST 1 healer per offtank group, 2 if you can manage it. Because Yakhmar does a 90 degree frontal cone (45/45 based on his head position) it is a must for the MT\'s healers to stand just on the other side of the head, but behind the offtank that is waiting to pick up the 2 adds that spawn near the head. This way they are positioned outside of his cone stun (Piercing Gaze) but can still sprint in and out to heal as necessary.
Tanks If you're using gemmed gear, I recommend a mix of Unyielding (Crushing invulnerabilities (1.6% max stat) and Algid (Cold invulnerabilities also 1.6% max stats), especially for the MT. The offtanks can have a mix since their main job will be dealing with the adds. Pulsing gems and any Chance on damage received proc gems would be good (because bleeds/procs/etc) help you hold aggro while stunned.
DPS It is important that ALL DPS go SLOW starting out on the fight because the tank is getting 2 stuns (Piercing Gaze, frontal cone) AND the Ice Wurms Lullaby (AoE stun) and will have trouble gaining alot of aggro. I recommend NOT DPSing until AFTER the 1st wave of adds are dead. This is NOT a DPS race, it is about keeping everyone alive and maintaining a STEADY dps without pulling aggro. Make sure you are positioned behind the heavier geared players if you are squishy.
That is the strategy we use, and I feel confident in posting it here. As with my Kylikki strat, if you have questions I will try to answer asap.
