Yakhmar is like most T1 encounters and is rather simple. The main focus will be burning down the adds as this is where most raids fail on this boss. Be aware that approaching Yakhmar with this in mind the encounter takes a little bit of time, as raids use more DPS on the adds than on Yakhmar.
A brief overview:
Yakhmar will knock back Main Tank group
Raid (especially Main Tank Group) will get stunned if DPS group is too close
No Fire Damage on Yakhmar
4 to 6 spawns appears regularly
Tactics:
Main Tank group charge Yakhmar where he is
One Assassin do continously DPS on Yakhmar
2 Rangers measure safe distance for DPS group and focus on Yakhmar
2 Necromancers do continously DPS on Yakhmar
DPS group stack up in a tight ball (soldiers in front) and burn down adds
Main Tank group (1-2 Guardian/DT, 1 Conqueror, 2-3 Healers) charges Yakhmar and changes aggro as needed. One assassin moves under the belly of Yakhmar and keeps DPS on him. Two rangers and two Necromancers move into max range and DPS Yakhmar. The rest of the raid gathers in one large group a bit behind the rangers and ready themselves to burn down the adds.
As soon as adds spawn, Rangers/Necromancers bring them into DPS group. Soldiers take aggro and tank them while they are burned down. Use as much Crowd Control (CC) on the adds as possible. Make sure there are no fire buffs, fire gear, et cetera on the players/groups that damage Yakhmar. Groups only dealing with spawns are encouraged to use fire buffs.
